Judith Beheading Holofernes. Caravaggio. c. 1598–1599
I couldnt take my eyes off this painting the first time I saw it. It tells the Biblical story of Judith, who saved her people by seducing and beheading the Assyrian general Holofernes. As gruesome as this panting is, it was Judiths face that captiavted many.
As much as I would of liked to have recreated the whole image... I couldn't convince hubby to get decapitated or my Mum to act as the old woman. Damn it.
